Exploring ‘R0LL1N H1LLS’ with Shady Nasty

With backgrounds in jazz and classical music, Eora/Sydney’s Shady Nasty subvert expectations. Inspired by the likes of Show Me The Body, King Krule, Iceage, Low Life and Mount Kimbie, the Sydney trio play an energetic and weirdo breed of punk that skirts the boundaries of the genre.

Following on from their menacing recent single ‘IBIZA’, new track ‘R0LLIN’ H1LLZ’ is out now alongside a video created by the band. The two tracks from their forthcoming CLUBSMOKE EP, a meditation on vlogging, gymming, clubbing and clout. Both ecstasy and emptiness are felt through sonic and visual homages to EDM, influencers and luxury brands in their harbour city home.

Vocalist Kevin Stathis chatted with RTRFM’s Matt Ferret ahead of the EP’s release on October 8, first being put to the difficult task of suming up the group’s “sound”. Listen to the unedited interview below.
