Exploring transgender inclusivity through game design

In honour of National Science Week, we’re seizing the opportunity to learn about the broad range of work that scientists can do, such as Phoebe Toups Dugas, Associate Professor of Human-Centred Computing in the Exertion Games Lab at Monash University. Associate Professor Dugas’ has completed extensive research on how video games can provide support to under-served groups such as disaster responders, but her current work focuses on how they can be used to promote transgender inclusivity.

Phoebe Toups Dugas went On The Record with Danae Gibson to discuss the democratisation of game design, and how video game’s ability to aid people in exploring identity and self-expression provide a unique opportunity to support transgender representation in media.
