Fast Fashion, High Cost.

Fast fashion retailers have made it incredibly easy to buy on-trend and affordable clothing, yet their intensive output contributes heavily to our global carbon emissions and textile pollution while also running the risk of exploiting workers in vulnerable countries.

Clothing production has more than doubled over the past 15 years and the fashion industry makes up for 10% of human’s total carbon emissions. Cutting our reliance on these fast fashion retailers and limiting the amount of clothes we buy in general, is an important step in reducing our own personal environmental impact.

On The Record producer Will Yagmich spoke with Dr. Taylor Brydges, principal researcher at the Institute of Sustainable Futures at UTS about the environmental contributions of the fashion industry and how we can limit and improve our consumption.
