FITTER | HAPPIER: The dangers of recreational nitrous oxide use

Colloquially known as ‘nangs’, these thumb-sized metal canisters containing nitrous oxide are intended to be used in kitchens to create whipped cream, mousses and foam.

However in recent years, their recreational use has become increasingly popular, due in part to their high accessibility. What many don’t know is that the misuse and inhalation of nitrous oxide can cause long-term health issues and severe brain damage.

Pamela Boland was joined by Department of Health Chief Pharmacist Meeghan Clay to talk about the impact of nitrous oxide.
