From Ocean Waves to Renewable Energy

We’ve been developing technologies to extract renewable energy from ocean waves for two centuries, with a variety of different methods in use today.

Most of these technologies utilise a principle known as resonance, which involves an object such as a buoy that moves up and down with the oceans natural swell to produce energy.

As part of Sea Week, Madeleine Mitchell chats with Professor Richard Manasseh about the technologies that use ocean waves to produce clean energy, and the issues involved with implementing these machines into our infrastructure.
