Gravel Road: The story of the world’s most remote Indigneous rock band

Nearly 13-hundred kilometres north-east of the RTRFM studio is the most remote Aboriginal community in the country.

Located in the Great Victoria Desert, Tjuntjuntjara is also home to the most remote rock band in the country – The Desert Stars. The band and their frontman Jay Minning are now the stars of a new documentary Gravel Road which follows the band as they embark on their first tour across the Western desert.

Taylah Strano caught up with director Tristen Pemberton and Jay for Breakfast to chat about the production.
