Greater Support Needed for People with an Acquired Brain Injury

Following the final report released by The Royal Commission into violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation of people with a disability, an area of concern was the experiences of those living with a disability within the criminal justice system. Of particular concern was the treatment of people with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).

The Centre for Innovative Justice (CIJ) at RMIT provided two submissions to The Royal Commission which highlighted this lack of support for those with an ABI.

Fiona Bartholomaeus spoke with Stan Winford, Associate Director of Research, Innovation and Reform at The CIJ to discuss their submissions to the Royal Commission and their recommendations for improving support for people with an ABI in the criminal justice system.  ABI disability royal commission OTR
