Hania Rani found Ghosts in her solitude

“I think I am the same as an artist and as a person. Music is my way of communication and I see the art, the music as a whole thing, with no borders, divisions, or even genres.”

As one of the world’s most transcendent modern pianists, Hania Rani is best known for her contemporary classical compositions, sound installations, and award-winning film scores. Conservatory trained, she brings a unique blend of classical elegance and modern influences that continue to radically transform tradition.

Captivating audiences with her enchanting and ethereal sound, Rani effortlessly blurs the lines between ambient, minimalism, and house, distinctly layering rhythmic pulses, ripples of piano, cascading melodies, and her delicate voice.

Rani released Ghosts in 2023. Blending a lifetime of musical experience into a unique cosmic soundscape, the album features notable collaborations with Patrick Watson, Ólafur Arnalds and Duncan Bellamy (Portico Quartet), and draws inspiration from artists as diverse as Enya, The Smile, James Blake and Pink Floyd.

Originally from Gdansk (Poland), Rani now divides her time between Warsaw, Berlin and London – where Pam Boland catches her, ahead of an Australian tour.

Hania Rani returns to Australia for four mesmerizing performances from 21 February to 1 March 2025 – with more information at www.artsprojects.com.au

She performs at Fremantle Arts Centre on Sunday February 23 as part of Perth Festival.
