How Whale Song Can Aid Conservation Efforts

A study on whale song has found that humpback and blue whales sing after having a good meal.

The study, conducted over six years off the coast of California, found that patterns in whale song can clue us in to their diet. This data could be used to indicate to conservationists the health of the whale population as well as the ecological health of the ocean.

Study co-author and marine biologist Ted Cheeseman joined Atikah Hurley to talk whales On The Record.
