Ilona McGuire on Melville Storylines and the Blak Dingo Club

The City of Melville embraces storytelling in all its forms with the return of Melville Storylines for a third year in a row, running throughout the entirety of October.

The program covers the ways that humans share stories in many different forms with over 30 events, including feature films, author talks, reading clubs, panel discussions, book launches and poetry readings.

This year, Melville Storylines is highlighting the importance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as storytellers through the Blak Dingo Club, a series of community-based, Whadjuk-led events that invite the community to come together in truth-telling, harmony and celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander excellence.

Bibbulmun Noongar and Kungarakan artist Ilona McGuire joins Beth Mackiewicz to discuss her involvement with Melville Storylines and her creation of the Blak Dingo Club.

More information on Melville Storylines can be found here.
