Indymedia: 20 Years Since the Battle of Seattle

Do the words open source online publishing mean anything to you? If you've used websites like Facebook and Twitter this technology may seem familiar.

It wasn't always like this on the wild world web until two Australian software programmers and street-based activism made a change.

On November 30th 1999 anti-globalisation activists and Seattle police battled it out, and for the first time ever, the world watched through a live feed on the Seattle Independent Media Centre website, now known as Indymedia.

One of the programmers, Matthew Arnison, joined Tom on Breakfast. He explained the state of the world at the time, how open source online publishing came to be and his thoughts on the #RightToKnow campaign...
