Jen Lush and Renee Pettit Schipp

What do you get when you combine a musician and poet? An album.

Renee Pettit Schipp is a WA writer who has collaborated with an Adelaide musician alongside poet Graham Kershew to see our poems as part of Jen Lush‘s fabulous new album ‘Hum of the Mettle‘.

“Featuring the words of five of Australia’s leading published poets, it crosses through the urban and desert terrain of Australia with poems that speak of love and desolation, loss and memory, the resilience of country and the stories held within it.

Originally created for the Denmark Festival of Voice in WA nearly two years ago, it features the poetry of Ali Cobby Eckermann, Maria Zajkowski, Renee Pettitt-Schipp, Graham Kershaw and Kevin Brophy, and the intuitive craftsmanship of my band folk – James Brown, Mark Seddon, Paul Angas and Sam Cagney.”

The duo join Bec Bowman on Artbeat to discuss the collaboration between musicians and poets.
