Jim White on The Hard Quartet

What happens when you combine Matt Sweeney, Emmett Kelly, and Stephen Malkmus, alongside Jim White? You get The Hard Quartet.

Individually covering musical ground as members of Pavement, Bonnie Prince Billy, Ty Segall, Dirty Three and more, these musical legends have joined forces to produce a self-titled debut album that is familiar but new, warm but icy, melodic but Sphinx-like in its seductive and subtle riddles.

Jim White joined Pam Boland for Breakfast to discuss forming the “supergroup”, and what it was like to produce their debut album.
