Local Feature Chat: e.s. Hughes debut album angel

Whadjuk-based singer-songwriter e.s Hughes has released their debut album “angel”, an incisive yet gentle selection, that tells the tales of travelling but not changing, the endless pursuit of things and the urge to flee once they have been accomplished.

Alongside producer Annika Moses, Hugh Manning draws inspiration from 70s country troubadours Guy Clarke and Townes Van Zandt and 90s/00s lo-fi folk weirdos Dear Nora, Smog and Palace Brothers whilst also tuning into the nostalgic warmth of country and folk.

Hugh and Annika chat with Pam about the long (car) journey taken for the album and coming into their own as a singer-songwriter.
