LOCAL FEATURE: Jake Brinfield’s Second Pass

Experimentation and exploration lie at the heart of Second Pass, the aptly named sophomore release from left-field electronics producer, Jake Brinfield.

Made with love in his home studio, the record showcases a real breadth of styles and influences, situating Brinfield outside of any one genre. He deftly weaves together elements of chill-hop, house, New Age, ambient, and even some cheeky break-beat moments, to create an album that is as playful as it is technical.

Tracks like Bump and Midi is Awesome bring a real exuberance and excitement through frenetic MIDI drum programming, while Have a Moment gives us swelling synths and expansive ambient contemplation.

Jake Brinfield joined Pam Boland on Breakfast to chat about the production of the album, his start in music and some of the tracks on the record.
