Local Feature: Nervous craft a newer, heavier sound on their first LP, Ruined

It’s fast, it’s frenetic, it’s loud and it’s intense — local four-piece Nervous’ debut full-length release Ruined is our local feature album this week. Across eight tracks the band flexes their musical muscles, running the gamut from white-knuckle hardcore garage punk to (slightly) softer-edged slow burns.

A shared sense of catharsis for both performer and listener is at the core of Ruined. It’s visceral music that one can’t help but feel, pairing vocalist Sara Salt‘s lyrics that match the bad’s sonics in emotional intensity and no-frills presentation. Nervous has struck a nerve with Ruined, telling stories that make you feel their impact, both mentally and physically.

Sara and Jared from the band join Mark Neal on Out to Lunch to chat about the album, the band’s back catalogue and recap their launch on January 28. Tune in below!
