Local Feature: Nika Mo blurs the lines between folktales and the freaky in debut album Of Cloven Hoof in Honey

PIC: Emma Stokes

With the aim of exploring the darker, more sinister tones of 19th century fairytales, Nika Mo has managed to shed light onto some of the most harrowing tales in her debut full length release.

Of Cloven Hoof in Honey harks back to the stories of the Brothers Grimm, borrowing themes and words, combining them with a more exploratory folk sound for the local musician.

With a long list of collaborators on the album, it’s supported not by a physical record release, but rather an album booklet, full of words, pictures and an album essay too.

You can catch Nika Mo launching her debut record at The Rechabite on April 14.
