Local Feature: Oceanique’s Would the Light Hold Me

Mesmerising audiences across the country with their ethereal harmonies and undeniable sibling bond, Perth-born duo Oceanique have released their debut album Would The Light Hold Me.

The duo has been crafting their unique folk music since 2019, releasing numerous singles and tirelessly touring WA until a recent relocation to Naarm.

All eleven tracks that make up Would The Light Hold Me feature the pair singing in tandem, creating layers of continuous vocal harmonies that undulate across a gossamer folk soundscape created with the assistance of producer James Newhouse.

After winning the 2022 Folk Alliance Australia ‘Youth Artist of the Year’, and releasing a string of well-received singles, the sister duo are gearing up for appearances at Canberra’s National Folk Festival 2023 and Koriot Irish Festival.

Jess and Maddy join RTRFM’s Matt Perrett on the day of the album’s release to chat about the record and their future plans.
