Local web-series ‘Scratch’ selected in Cannes’ Diversity showcase

Locally produced queer web-series Scratch has been nominated in the ‘Diversity in Cannes Short Film and Web-Series Showcase’ – an independent event held alongside the Cannes Film Festival. Sponsored by Viola Davis’ production company JuVee Productions, the British Film Institute, and Screen Australia, the showcase celebrates underrepresented voices in film. Scratch is one of just seven web-series nominated for Best Web-Series, selected from a pool of 186 submissions from around the world.

Atikah Hurley sits down with emerging writer and director Carl King to talk about the making of his independent web-series – a raw exploration of queer hookup culture, emotional complexity, and the challenges of writing scenes that cut close to the bone.
