Marcus Whale on translating his album The Hunger to live shows and his shifting artistic identity

Marcus Whale is a sucker for all things horror and campy.

The Sydney-based artist, working on Gadigal land, has an extensive discography, working as one-half of experimental pop duo Collarbones, the club-centric electronic project BV (alongside DJ Plead and Cassius Select), his solo releases alongside scores he’s written for the stage, screen and his own prose.

2021 saw the release of his left- album The Hunger, exploring themes of horror, queer desire and identity and vampires. Since The Hunger‘s release Marcus as had the opportunity to tour the country, performing an ever-shifting live set of his music both new and old.

Ahead of his performances in Boorloo on November 26 at The Bird and November 27 at Pig Melon he sits down with Thursday Drivetime‘s Jxnior and Matt to reminisce on the past year and provide some info into his upcoming shows.
