Mothertongues by Ceridwen Dovey and Eliza Bell

Ceridwen Dovey and Eliza Bell have co-written an experimental novel to capture their shared experiences of early motherhood, Mothertongues.

It charges into the typically masculine domain of experimental auto fiction with an absurdist story about mothering – a feminist project that combines songs, memoir, fiction, drama, poetry, letters, lists, theatre, and traverses Ancient Greece to New York and Sydney.

As part of this unique project the authors enlisted Australian singer-songwriter Keppie Coutts to put some of their emotions into song.

Keppie’s songs are threaded throughout the book and she has written and recorded a soundtrack of eight original songs to be included in the audiobook.

Ceridwen joined Bec Bowman on Artbeat.
