“Nangs” Ban Set For Schedule 10 Restriction

Nitrous Oxide. A colourless gas, otherwise known as the “laughing gas” and “nangs” is a component found in Whipping Cream canisters and is frequently used by dentists and medical professionals in the Australian Medical Field to sedate patients undergoing minor medical procedures.

However, the usage of the Gas for recreational drug purposes has resulted in the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) taking action in restricting the gas under ‘Schedule 10’,the most restrictive category of the poison standard.

This edition of On The Record welcomes Dr. Stephen Bright from the ECU School of Medical and Health Sciences, who joins presenter Jesse Begley to discuss the severity of Nitrous Oxide and whether the proposed restrictions expressed by the TGA are the best strategy.
