New documentary highlights WA’s black cockatoo crisis

Black cockatoo numbers have fallen dramatically in recent years and all three species in the south-west of WA could become extinct in just 20 years unless something is done to protect their habitats.

Filmmaker Jane Hammond is working to change that through raising awareness in her latest production Black Cockatoo Crisis, a documentary which explores the challenges experienced by WA’s special cockatoos and what can be done to prevent them from disappearing.

Jane returned to On The Record with Jeff Bullen on the eve of the release to chat about the project.
