New ECU research explores reality of youth burglaries in WA

New research from Edith Cowan University has uncovered the reasons behind youth burglaries, the most common offence amongst young people in the Children’s Court of Western Australia.

The research team spoke with 50 people aged between 11 to 17 who reported committing at least one burglary offence, discovering that a fifth only stole food.

Fiona Bartholomaeus spoke with co-author Dr Natalie Gately for On The Record about the findings.
