New Talk chat Music and Perfomance on Drivetime
Formally Rag n’ Bone, Boorloo’s own New Talk are go-to post-punk gems and sprinkle in a bit of gothic too. With their debut LP A Handful of Ash released in 2017, the quartet promptly became local favourites to radio and fans-alike.
A mountainous album, it was a hard act to follow. Yet the band followed through big in 2021 with their thundering sophomore LP Time & Memory. With powerfully emotive singles Amytis and Frida, and themes of toxic masculinity and contemporary Australian issues throughout, listeners were hooked.
New Talk’s Kiera Owen and Axel Carrington drop by the RTRFM studios to chat with Em and Tim on a special ‘dark’ edition of Drivetime ahead of their gig next week. The band’s first live performance in some time and also their ten year anniversary, we get some hints as to just how eccentric this performance might be.
New Talk play at The Rosemount on May 20th with support from Julia Wallace, Supernaked and Sofa.
