New task force to fight WA’s corella plague across state’s south

A new task force headed by former Western Australia Police Force commissioner Karl O’Callaghan is set to meet with leaders to discuss ways of combating problems created by growing numbers of Corella in the state’s south.

The birds breed successfully in the wheat-belt and move to urban areas where they damage protected trees, tear up footy ovals and cut through wires.

Curtin University associate professor Bill Bateman was On The Record with Danae Gibson to discuss the extent of the problem and potential solutions.
