PREMIERE: Human Buoy marks return from three-year hiatus with new single Netflicks

As the lyrics might suggest, Human Buoy (aka Ben McDonlad), has indeed been putting this release off for a long time.

After a three-year hiatus, the Fremantle based alt-pop project has reprised its role in the local scene with new single Netflicks.

Arming himself with the challenge to make an interesting track with a “boring” chord progression, the almost four-minute long tune features beatboxing drums with layered melodies and instrumentation.

McDonald said while the track was started years ago, it was revisited and completed during 2020 lockdown, “Hearing it at that time gave it a completely new meaning and motivated me to finally finish it,”

“The chorus melody reminds me of what the theme from A Land Before Time would’ve sounded like if the T-Rex’s had won the war.”
