PREMIERE: Mountains from Oceanique

WA born and bred, now Naarm-based indie-folk duo Oceanique return with new single Mountains, the first taste of new music since the pair shared their debut album Would The Light Hold Me in 2023.

Made up of twin sisters Maddy and Jess Houston, Oceanique share, ‘This song had many forms, we started writing it, couldn’t finish it, and came back to it a year later. It evolved as we evolved and turned from a song of jealousy to a reminder to be kind. The world needs more kindness. There’s a line in the song from a quote we discovered in a horoscope we were reading each other, ‘Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echoes are truly endless’.

Pam Boland premieres Mountains on Breakfast ahead of the track’s release Thursday February 13.
