PREMIERE: Star Arcana’s glistening indie-pop single ‘Close To You’

Star Arcana is the product of a long endured friendship between five folks all hailing from the southern town of Albany. Following a string of singles, EPs and a move to Perth/Boorloo over the past few years the group has returned to the scene with their latest singe, ‘Close To You’.

Blending dreamy, washed out vocals with with lush, reverb soaked indie rock instrumentation the single sees the quintet embrace post-modernist song writing “something that had elements of a pop song that at the same time rejected the regular conventions of pop song structure.”

“Lyrically, I tried to use a lot of symbolic imagery and connotative language to illustrate a bit of a story across the song. I would rather leave it to the listener to make what they want of the song and its lyrics – I personally prefer it when songs are ambiguous enough that each listener can interpret it in their own way and assign a meaning to” says vocalist James Clark.
