Regional Moves And Life Pressures In ‘The Big Smoke’

Why do people in regional areas feel the pressure to move to ‘The Big Smoke‘ (large industrial cities)?

Candice Boyd, who is a DECRA (Discovery Early Career Researcher Award) recipient and Fellow in Human Geography at the University Of Melbourne joined Breakfast with Taylah, to discuss the multiple reasons as to why young Australians are currently faced with the ‘label of shame’ if they don’t move to the city.

Along the way they tackle further questions as to why there is a stigma that you’ve only ‘made it’ once you’re in a big city, including collected research showcasing and highlighting the young people who moved, as opposed to those who stayed.
