Remembering Eddie Koiki Mabo

June 3 is Mabo Day, which commemorates Mer Island man Eddue Koiki Mabo.

Mabo’s campaigning led to the successful overturning of terra nullius, a legal doctrine that Australia’s colonial government exploited to seize Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander land.

Chloe D’Souza is a Wiilman Noongar woman and a John Monash Scholar about to commence further law studies at Columbia University.
