Research Reveals ‘Lethal Concoction’ Between Amphetamines And Road Trauma

New research has revealed that amphetamines have become the most detected drug among drivers who have been injured or killed due to road trauma.

In particular when combined with alcohol the positive effects of the amphetamines are suppressed and the motor skills of an individual are impaired worse than alcohol use alone.

On The Record presenter Jeff Bullen is joined in the studio with Dr Amie Hayley, from the Centre for Human Psychopharmacology based at Swinburne University.

Together they sit down to discuss the sudden increase in amphetamine related road trauma, including what direct impacts are involved regarding the effect of amphetamines on individual cognition functions, and what changes can be implemented to current standing policies to reduce the number of amphetamine related deaths.
