Winter has finally shrouded Perth, but fear not! We are throwing a winter warmer of an event to combat those chills.

The Fremantle Winter Music Festival will be showcasing some of the city’s most iconic musicians and artists.

On the lineup is Ruby Pettit, a Boorloo/Perth-based singer-songwriter who earlier this year released Still We Are Rising, an album that was a local feature on the Sound Alternative.

Recorded over two stormy days and nights in the winter of 2022, Still We Are Rising has all the low-fi charm of a crackling vinyl platter from the 1970s blended with sounds from the modern freak-folk movement.

Mike Tucak from Middle of Nowhere sits down for a yarn with local musician Ruby Pettit, chatting about her creative process and what we can expect at this year’s Winter Music Festival.
