Shaking The Foundations

A study published today in Nature has shed new light on the processes that helped form Earth’s continents.

Co-author Professor Chris Kirkland from Curtin University’s Timescales of Mineral Systems Group was part of a research team led by the Geological Survey of Western Australia, which investigated rocks in the state’s north-west where the Earth’s crust is among the oldest on the planet, and ideal to test models of our planet’s continent formation over deep time.

Chris Kirkland joined RTRFM to tell us more about this research.
