Silence Listening: Geraldton exhibition tackles unspoken colonial history

Regional Arts WA has named their July artists of the month as Yamaji artist Dr Charmaine Papertalk Green and British-Australian artist George Criddle. These artists underwent a five-year collaboration that culminated in the exhibition Silence Listening: A Midwest Truth-Telling Exhibition. The collection of artworks explores the unspoken colonial histories of Jambinu (Geraldton) and Mullewa, and features the work of two Yamaji artists: Dr Green and the late Uncle Dr Brian Dodd McKinnon.

George Criddle joined Bec Bowman on Artbeat to discuss storytelling, confronting truths, and building trust in inter-cultural collaborations.

Silence Listening is free to visit at the Museum of Geraldton in the Mid West from 21 June – 31 August.
