Sreekanth Gopalakrishnan’s new production, Crimson Gully
Crimson Gully is scripted, designed and directed by Sreekanth Gopalakrishnan.
Sreekanth is an Indian-Australian actor, playwright, director, and IT Manager by profession. He skilfully takes on multiple roles within his productions, including direction, playwriting, acting, and design. Known for his work in the Indian community and independent theatres in Perth, Sreekanth grew up in Kerala, India, a region famous for its rich and diverse performing arts traditions.
After migrating to Perth in 2014, he founded The Great Indian Theatre Company, aiming to bring multicultural stories to Australian audiences.
His production ‘The Final Line’ received critical acclaim and won the Yvonne Hough-Neilson Award at the 48th Robert Finley Awards.
Presented by The Great Indian Theatre Company, Crimson Gully, is a socio-political drama, set in a fictitious red-light district of India, that questions society’s fake moralities around misogyny, class divide, corruption and integrity.
The production brings together dance, music, and some of the finest acting talents from the Indian community in Perth.
Crimson Gully will be showing from November 15-17 at the Nexus Theatre, Murdoch.
