Text Me When You Get Home Walk for Women’s Safety

If you’re a woman who has ever walked home alone you’ve likely heard the phrase, text me when you get home.

It’s a sentence that’s passed between women most nights, because it’s necessary; the latest data revealing 63 per cent of Australian women won’t walk alone after dark because they don’t feel safe.

Local women’s advocacy group We Are W/M say walking freely is a human right and to raise awareness, volunteer Casey Edmunds is walking from sunset to sunrise as part of the inaugural Text Me When You Get Home walk.

Pam Boland spoke with Casey for Breakfast ahead of her walk to chat about women’s safety, the origins of the walk and the work of advocacy work of We Are W/M.
