Research into the effects of gambling advertising on teens

New Curtin University research project is set to study the effects of gambling advertising on young people in Western Australia.

“This project is researching the impact of exposure to gambling marketing on young people in Western Australia. We want to better understand what young people are exposed to and how it influences their attitudes toward gambling and intentions to gamble. We’re working with a group of young people to document what they see in their everyday life and together develop recommendations for policy to reduce gambling-related harms in the community.”

People aged 16-17 years are invited to participate in the project by documenting their own day-to-day experiences of being exposed to gambling advertising and can have a say on how to reduce gambling-related harm in the community.

Project Coordinator from Curtin’s School of Population Health, Louise Francis joins Danae Gibson for On The Record to discuss the project.
