The View From Here #43: Lincoln MacKinnon
The View From Here continues for a sixth season on RTRFM, with 12 monthly instalments featuring some of our favourite local artists in iconic and unexpected locations across WA.
The eleventh of 12 episodes sees the alt country magic of Lincoln MacKinnon on the banks of the Swan River under the historical Old Mill in South Perth.
Set just across the Narrows Bridge, The Old Mill, built in 1835 is one of the oldest Post colonial buildings in the state and at one point produced 680 kilograms of flour per day. The building avoided being knocked down in 1957 with the construction of the narrows bridge and still stands as a teaching tool and is heritage listed .
What better place then for Lincoln MacKinnon to play a selection of tunes for the penultimate View From Here in this season. Lincoln makes spectacular alt country rock and roll, a story teller of the highest order. Four songs sung with passion and played with a band that seems to love making music together.
Lincoln and the band roll through four songs of hope, sadness, loss and joy as the traffic rolls by and the Derbal Yerigan flows behind them.
