The visually impaired community call for better QR code accessibility

QR check in codes have become a normality activity for Australians, due to the rising cases of COVID-19 around Australia. The daily task is mandatory for the public to enter businesses and venues, in order to assist with contact tracing if a community case arises.

And while they may seem like an easy task for most people, the visually impaired community struggle with locating the QR codes leading to calls to the Australian government from people living with visual impairment to make the QR check-in code systems more accessible for their community.

On the Record’s, Jeff Bullen spoke to Chris Edwards, Manager of Government Relations and Advocacy for Vision Australia about QR check in codes effect on the visually impaired community.
