Warrior Women documentary shines light on Native Americans fight for land rights

Showing as part of The Environment Film Festival Australia, Warrior Women highlights the role of women in the protection and advancement for the rights of Indigenous Peoples and land.

Following the journey of Madonna Thunder Hawk, the 2018 documentary reveals the decades worth of work she and her community have been doing to reunify traditional land owners with country.

Full of archival footage, interviews and retellings from women of the Lakota nation, Warrior Women provides history and context to viewers about the colonisation of Indian American people.

Breakfast with Taylah was lucky enough to sit down with Warrior Women Producer Anna Pitman and daughter of Madonna Thunder Hawk, Marcy Gilbert to talk more about the story.
