We Are Jeni: co writers and directors Mariel Thomas and Akhim Dev

We are Jeni is a new Australian feature documentary about to hit local screens for a very limited time. It’s a powerful, human story that touches on trauma, survival, mental health and the limits of the legal system.

The film is both a gripping true-crime investigation and an intimate psychological portrait that tells the extraordinary true story of Dr Jeni Haynes, whose mind created more than two thousand alternate personalities to survive severe childhood abuse, voices that would later help bring her abuser to justice.

The film-makers, co writers and directors, Mariel Thomas and Akhim Dev, will take part in a special Q&A screening on Saturday 21 March at Luna Leederville, led by documentary producer, director and writer, Dr Cathy Henkel.
