We’re Not Fancy, But We’re Cheap!

Do you remember where you were when you found out WA Salvage went out of business? In 2005 the company called it quits, to the dismay of West Australians everywhere.

On the bright side, from the discount warehouse chain a WA icon was born – Luigi Savadamoni. Luigi was played by Claudio Versaico from the 1980s.

Versaico moved to Australia from Italy as a child. He hung up the blue singlet and handkerchief hat not long before the company stopped operating.

Annie Morris spoke to Claudio Versaico and asked him how it all began
