Western Countries Withdraw Citizens from Afghanistan

With the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia scrambling to remove staff and civilians from Afghanistan whilst the Taliban takes control of more major cities, we have started to see images of planes filled to over capacity as masses of people attempt to flee the country.

Middle East Politics and Foreign relations expert from Curtin University Dr Ben Rich, joins presenter Fiona Bartholomaeus to discuss the recent developments, including the implications surrounding the Taliban’s declaration of an ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’, along with the absence of the Afghan government and military failing to protect the people.
