Wheelchair Traveller Recounts Experience Through A World In Lockdown

Travelling can be fun and exciting but also a challenge as you navigate your way through unfamiliar places.

For Ken Haley the idea of a fun trip around the Caribbean Islands and Central America very quickly turned upside down when the world went into lockdown as the pandemic spread.

But as a pioneer wheelchair traveller he persevered, continued on his way and wrote a new book ‘The One That Got Away’ documenting his experiences.

On The Record presenter Fiona Bartholomaeus took the opportunity to catch up and chat with Ken, to get a gauge as to why he decided to continue travelling abroad rather than return to Australia, including his choice to specifically focus on explore the Caribbean and Central Americas, and the overall importance of others understanding the difficulties that people in wheelchairs and disabilities face when it comes to travelling.
