Women in Media: Dr Kathryn Shine

A new report has looked into how women are portrayed in media, specifically when featured in the news and included as experts in their fields.

This gap in gender representation in news sourcing is a common problem across Australia but also across the world with other research showing men comprise around 70% of people quoted as sources in the news.

Dr Kathryn Shine, Associate Professor in Journalism at Curtin University, discusses the research and the inequalities with Fiona Bartholomaeus.
