About RTRFM
RTRFM is The Sound Alternative: an independent, non-profit community radio station that provides an alternative voice for Perth through innovative music and talks programming. RTRFM provides a platform for local news and issues, with a strong focus on the arts, culture, social justice, politics and the environment. We champion local music and support musical diversity through 50+ specialist music programs and a huge program of events.
RTRFM is seeking new program proposals from both existing members of the station and the general public for our 2025 programming.
We will consider three different types of submissions:
New On-Air Program
A new program that can be broadcast weekly in a one, two, or three-hour format, and can be sustainable in the long term. It should be relevant for RTRFM listeners, with genres/topics not adequately covered by existing RTRFM programs. Keep in mind your show will require multiple presenters and refer to this in your application.
New On-Air Segment
A new segment on an existing program where appropriate. Examples of this are Suburban Farm Yarn, a weekly 15-minute segment with Monica Main during On The Record, or Movie Squad, a weekly 30-minute movie review segment on Breakfast. These segments are subject to the approval of the existing program’s producers.
Podcast
A podcast style of broadcast for distribution via the RTRFM website and recognised services (e.g. iTunes, Spotify et cetera). We are primarily interested in talks-based podcasts.
