The View From Here #25: Jack Davies and The Bush Chooks

RTRFM’s long running video series The View From Here returns in 2018 with a set of WA bands playing their music in unique WA locations.

This time we take you to the inner city as Jack Davies and the Bush Chooks camp themselves inside the iconic and heritage listed Luna Palace Cinema.

A cinema since 1927, Luna Leederville is a bastion of the weird and wonderful, the home of cult movies and modern classics. It’s art deco facade is matched by a over worldly interior, harking back to a by-gone era in the heart of bustling Leederville.

Jack Davies is the perfect band to seek tranquility amongst the famous red chairs. Jack and his band, featuring five of his best mates run through four songs with a laid back, story telling nuance that is hard to describe. Think Peter Bibby, Courtney Barnett and Paul Kelly wrapped into one, telling stories of life in Fremantle, life in Perth and life in a changing country.

His band sits behind Jack’s voice perfectly, complementing his story telling drawl with melody driven, rhythmic songs. Their talent is extraordinary and their songs sit inside your brain well after the music has ended.
