The Souvenir Part II & Hellbender (Movie Squad Podcast #66)

This week on the Movie Squad pod, Tristan Fidler and Simon Miraudo join forces with Breakfast host Taylah Strano to review a couple films; one, an arthouse sequel, and the other, a family-made horror flick.

First up, Tristan leads a review of Joanna Hogg’s The Souvenir Part II, the follow-up to her dark, romantic mystery from 2019, starring Honor Swinton Byrne (alongside real-life mum Tilda Swinton) as a film student reckoning with the after effects of a toxic relationship.

Then, Simon introduces Hellbender, a horror film about a woman and her daughter living on the outskirts of society, for society’s protection, made by a real-life Adams family (husband, wife and daughters who wrote, directed, shot and star in the flick).

The Souvenir Part II is now in cinemas and Hellbender is available to stream on Shudder.
