We say this every week, but this episode of the Movie Squad pod really does cover the gamut, from the sober sensitivity of Oscar nominated art cinema to the rabid intensity of a bear on cocaine!

Simon Miraudo and Tristan Fidler visited Taylah Strano on Brekky to review not one, not two but three films.

Simon was first with a brief rundown of Laura Poitras’ documentary about artist/activist Nan Goldin, All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, which is playing the Lotterywest Perth Festival film season.

Then, Tristan looks at the true-but-not-really story of Cocaine Bear, from director Elizabeth Banks, all about a… well… you know.

Finally, Simon and Tristan review writer-director Charlotte Wells’ enigmatic and hearbreaking Aftersun, starring Paul Mescal as a young father on holiday with his pre-teen daughter. The review is followed by Simon’s interview with Charlotte, to chat about the rapturous reaction to the film and its incredible, occasionally questionable needle drops.
